What Changes A Fire Door Price
Prices move based on the opening, not just the product. Frame condition, hardware, seals, closers, labour time, access and whether the job is a one-off or multi-door package all matter.
Different Cost Types
Installation-led, repair-led and replacement-led enquiries all price differently. This page helps people ask the right first question before they jump to a number.
Use The More Focused Cost Pages Too
If you already know the job is about FD30 specifically, use the FD30 cost page. If the issue is repairs or replacement, those pages will usually move you toward a better next step.
How fire door cost is actually built up in London
Most quotes you receive will give you one number. We give you three: the door cost (at trade price, with the manufacturer's invoice shown), the ironmongery cost (itemised), and the fitting fee. Adding the three together is your total. No hidden mark-up on the doors, no inflated material cost, no padding.
Why this matters: the industry's default is to bundle door + fitting into a single line so customers can't see how much of the price is being marked up. The growth report on this market identified pricing transparency as a real differentiator — we lean into it.

Volume pricing for multi-door HMO and block work
From six doors upwards we apply volume rates. The break-down on a typical six-bed HMO package:
- 6 × FD30S internal leaves @ £215 = £1,290
- 1 × FD30S flat-entrance set @ £890
- 7 × ironmongery packs @ £78 = £546
- Fitting: 6 × £140 + 1 × £230 = £1,070
- Documentation pack & site management: included
- Total: £3,796 for the six-bed package, supplied, fitted, documented.
For 12+ door projects the per-door cost typically reduces by a further 6–10% once economy-of-scale on fitting kicks in.
What drives a quote up vs down
- Up: oak or walnut veneer (vs white primer), bespoke door sizes, fire-rated glazing, top-floor access without a lift, listed-building constraints, weekend or evening fits.
- Down: standard sizes, white-primed for site painting, ground-floor access, weekday daytime fits, multi-door packages, existing frames retained.
What you do NOT pay extra for
- Documentation pack and certificates — included.
- First quarterly inspection log and template — included.
- Floor protection on installation day — included.
- Removal and disposal of old doors — included.
- Frame repair to receive new leaf if minor — included.
- Re-attendance if a closer needs adjustment within 30 days — included.
What to ask any other quote
If you're comparing Doorz London against another quote that's noticeably cheaper, ask the other party four direct questions: (1) is the door BWF-Certifire or BM TRADA tested with the plug visible, (2) are smoke seals included on every door, (3) is the closer concealed or surface-mounted, and (4) what documentation will you receive at handover. If any answer is vague, the cheap quote is cheap for a reason.
